Erma Maxine Stewart, age 88, loving wife and mother passed away Wednesday morning, January 11, 2012 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Wellington, KS. She was a retired homemaker and a food service worker for the Wellington school system for many years.
Erma Maxine (Chiles) Stewart was born on February 10, 1923 in Appleton City, Missouri to Roy Elmer Chiles and Minnie Lee (Davis) Chiles. Erma was a 1940 graduate of Wellington High School.
Erma married Daniel B. Stewart on August 17, 1941 in Wellington, KS. They lived on a farm near Mayfield, KS for many years before moving to Wellington. They had celebrated 59 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on April 20, 2001.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Daniel; one daughter, Linda M. Stewart; one brother; and four sisters.
Survivors include her son, Daniel R. Stewart of Wellington; brother-in-law, Robert A Stewart; sister-in-law, Mary Lee Craven; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at Frank Funeral Home on January 16, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. Pastor Don Bryant will officiate. Private family interment will be held at Sumner Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, January 15, 2012 from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.
A memorial has been established with the First Christian Church. Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
