Our beautiful mother, Ada Marie Baker, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, February 2, 2020 at Botkin Care and Rehabilitation. Our family was so blessed to have such a beautiful, caring, and generous Momma.
Ada Marie (Gaskill) Baker was born on December 13, 1930 in Wellington, KS to Loyal M. Gaskill and Leona (Blunk) Gaskill.
Ada spent her life raising her family and providing hand-made, homemade, garden grown goodness to family and friends. She volunteered for over 30 years at the Hospital Auxiliary and the First Christian Church. She enjoyed hostessing for the Golden Chain Club at the Wellington Recreation Center.
Ada married Chester Baker, Jr. on May 24, 1949 in Wellington, KS. He preceded her in death in 2005.
Ada is survived by her daughters, Dorothy (Rod) Oldridge, Tracy (Dan) Thomas and Rhonda (Kent) Newberry all of Wellington; grandchildren, Jennifer (Mitch) Rusk of Edmond, OK, DeeAnna (Chris) Stout of Wellington, Alex Marie Kiehl (Jake) of Wellington, Shelly Herzer, Heather Hairgrove, Lance (Sarah) Oldridge of Wichita, Jarrod (Teri) Oldridge of Las Vegas, NV, Dannielle Michael (Jeff) Fisher of Andover. Ada was also blessed with several great grandchildren, Gabby Stout, Kelsey Rusk, Chandler Rusk, Russell Fisher, and Emily Safris, Logan and Ethan Oldridge, and Jackson Oldridge; sisters, Naomi Crossley of Oakley, KS and Mary Lee King of Wellington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Chester Baker, Jr.; daughter Linda Jean Baker; son, Robert Allen Baker; sisters, Vera Maxine, Emma Fern, and Betty Jean; and brother, Pete Gaskill.
Funeral Services will be held at the First Christian Church on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor James Byers and Pastor Sallie Shore will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Sumner Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 – 7:00 P.M.
A memorial has been established with the Good Shepherd Hospice and the First Christian Church. Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
Frank Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
