Alice Marie Day, age 73, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away Thursday evening, February 15, 2007 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Wellington, KS. She was a retired Customer Service Representative for Wal-Mart.
Alice Marie (Harris) Day was born on July 25, 1933 in Wellington, KS to George S. Harris and Hazel Pearl (Myers) Harris.
She enjoyed playing cards and Bingo with her family and friends. She also enjoyed all the holiday gatherings with her family.
Alice Marie Harris married William P. Day, Sr. on March 6, 1950 in Winfield, KS. He preceded her in death on January 1, 1999.
Alice is preceded in death by her parents; her husband William P. Day, Sr.; daughter Catherine Sue Craig; grandson Michael Day; brother Eddie Harris, and sister Margaret Shaddix.
Survivors include her two sons William P. Day, Jr. and fiancee Sherry Smith of Wellington, KS and Stephen Day of Mulvane, KS; two daughters Marcia Higgins and her husband Robert of Wellington, KS and Susan Simmons and her husband Lacy of South Haven, KS; brothers George Harris, Jr. of Rockdale, TX, Charles Harris of Wellington, KS, Jack Harris of Wichita, KS, Byrl Harris of Mineola, TX, and Bill Harris of Wellington, KS; sister Bonnie Ratley of Wichita, KS; grandchildren Stephen Day, Jr., Christy Whiteman, Brian Day, Jessica Rains, Stormie Higginbotham, Teresa Day, Kimberly Simmons, Jacob Simmons; step grandchildren Kimberly Herrington and Russell Higgins, 11 great grandchildren; and her best friend Dixie Waltrip.
Funeral Services will be held at the First Christian Church on Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. Interment will follow the service at Prairie Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, February 19, 2007 from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. The family will be present to greet friends from 7:00 – 9:00 P.M.
Memorials have been established with the American Cancer Society and the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Contributions can be mailed or left at the funeral home.
