Alice Maxine Heasty, age 96, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away Saturday evening, August 3, 2013 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Wellington. Maxine was a retired school teacher.
Alice Maxine (Stocking) Heasty was born on February 28, 1917 in rural Mayfield, KS to Roderick Porter Stocking and Myrtle Augusta (Nyberg) Stocking.
Maxine married Floyd Eugene Heasty on March 12, 1945 in Kansas City. He preceded her in death in 2004.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gene; and two brothers, Wilmer Stocking and Max Stocking.
Survivors include her three sons, Larry Heasty and his wife JoAnn of Kirkland, WA, Terry Heasty and his wife Mary of Mayfield, and Daryl Heasty and his wife Debbie of Mayfield; six grandchildren, Ben Heasty, Dr. Rod Heasty, Travis Heasty and his wife Samantha, Tagg Heasty, Megan Burch and her husband Sam, and Jay Heasty; great grandchildren, Tucker Heasty, Reese and Taylor Heasty, and Noah and Anna Burch .
Funeral Services will be held at the Mayfield Federated Church on Friday, August 9, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. The Reverend Susan Stover will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Osborne Cemetery in Mayfield.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, August 8, 2013 from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M.
Memorials have been established with the Mayfield Community Building Fund and the WHS.CC Scholarships. Contributions can be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
