Anna Coelene Church, age 91, passed away Tuesday morning, August 10, 2010 at Slate Creek Good Samaritan Center in Wellington, KS. She was a homemaker and a long time member of the Wellington Church of Christ.
Anna Coelene (Ditmore) Church was born on January 13, 1919 near Geuda Springs, KS and was the middle child of farmer parents, Charles H. Ditmore and Etta (Wilmith) Ditmore.
Coelene met the love of her life, Dale Weedman Church, and exchanged her wedding vows with him at the Christian church parsonage in Arkansas City, KS on August 13, 1936. Dale preceded her in death on August 16, 2000 just three days after their 64th wedding anniversary.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale; two brothers, Winford Ditmore and Howard Ditmore; one sister, Lois Collins; and one granddaughter, Angela Lynn.
Survivors include her three children, Dale Wayne Church and his wife, Carolyn; Judy K. Beat and her husband LeRoy; and Larry Joe Church and his wife, Dianne; one sister, Rogene Rutherford; one sister-in-law, Melba Knox; eight grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 13, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at Wellington Church of Christ. Interment will follow the service at Rose Hill Cemetery in South Haven, KS.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, August 12, 2010 from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.
Memorials have been established with the Church of Christ and St. Jude Childrens Hospital. Contributions can be left or mailed to the funeral home.
Coelene will be missed dearly and remembered as a thoughtful and caring person who shared the sufferings of others.
