Antonio P. "Tony" Reyes, Sr., age 82, of Wellington, passed away Monday evening, November 5, 2012 at Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita, KS. He worked for the Santa Fe railroad for over 10 years. He retired as a power plant operator for the City of Wellington with over 25 years of employment.
Antonio P. Reyes, Sr. was born on January 17, 1930 in Somerville, TX to Teofilo Reyes and Mary O. (Olivan) Reyes. He served in the United States Army from 1947 to 1950.
Tony enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jeremy Reyes; and his brother, John Reyes.
Survivors include two sons, Antonio Reyes, Jr. and his wife Deane and Michael Reyes and his wife Kathryn all of Wellington, KS; four daughters, Eva McCool of Wellington, KS, Debra Anne Milham and her husband Timothy of Derby,KS, Ann Marie Reyes and her companion Jerry Boggess of Wichita, KS and Cassandra Townsend and her husband Richard of Wellington, KS; two brothers, Ramon Reyes, Sr. and Henry Reyes both of Wellington, KS and ; two sisters, Lucia Reyes and Frances Ybarra both of Wellington, KS; 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Rosary will be held at St.Anthony's/St. Rose Catholic Church in Wellington, KS on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at 7:00 P.M.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 9, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Anthony's/St. Rose Catholic Church. Father Lawrence Carney will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Wellington, KS.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, November 8, 2012 from 10:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society. Contributions can be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
