Arnetta May Carter, age 84, passed away Thursday afternoon, August 20, 2009 at the Kansas Medical Center in Andover, KS. She was a retired farmer and homemaker.
Arnetta May (Gaddie) Carter was born on January 17, 1925 in Wellington, KS to Arnold Gaddie and Eula (Armstrong) Gaddie.
She married Henry "Hank" Carter on April 13, 1946 in Los Angeles, CA. Henry preceded her in death on January 29, 1992.
She enjoyed her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one brother, Jerry Gaddie.
Survivors include her two sons, Sheldon Carter and his wife Cindy of Belle Plaine, KS and Dr. Jay Carter and his wife Christina of Lansing, KS; four brothers, Kermit "Pete" Gaddie of Wellington, KS, Jimmy Gaddie and Jay Lee Gaddie both of California, and John Ashurst of Texas; two sisters, Judy Whitt of West Virginia and Jan Shelby of California; step-mother, Pearl Gaddie of California; four grandchildren, Nicholas and Angela Carter of Oxford, KS, Becky and Andrew Tapia of Winfield, KS, Melissa and Travis Gillenwater of Belle Plaine, KS, and Savannah Carter of Lansing, KS; and six great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on August 24, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Frank Funeral Home. Pastor Glendon Epp will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Prairie Lawn Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the American Diabetes Association. Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
