Audrey Laverne DeJarnett, age 84, died Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Wellington. She was a retired florist.

Laverne was born November 16, 1927 at Crescent, OK to Loren Y. Payne and Georgia Alice (Bell) Payne. She married George J. DeJarnett on August 6, 1946 in Hugoton, KS. They moved from Oklahoma City, OK to Mayfield in 1962. In 1965 she started working at Bob's Floral Design. In 1993 at the death of Bob Bissell, she and George purchased the flower shop and continued to work until her retirement in January of 2000.

Laverne was a member of First Baptist Church where she served on the Diaconate board for several terms. She was past President of Business & Professional Women's Club and served two terms as President of Soroptimist Club.

Laverne was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George, Sr.; and three sisters, Kathrine Watts, Ruth Rhodes, and Lorraine Davis.

Survivors include sons, Bob DeJarnett and wife Verla of Wellington, Jim DeJarnett and wife Loretta of Bakersfield, CA, John DeJarnett and wife Sherry of Grove, OK, and George DeJarnett, Jr. and wife Desilu of Grove, OK; step-daughter, Marcia Janzen and husband Ron of Enid, OK; grandchildren, Shawn & Jeff DeJarnett, Jami Dodds & Jenny Gridley, Michelle Cornett & Paula DeJarnett, Christy Blaes, Sara Stowers, Kerri Hunter,& Nathanael DeJarnett, Mike, Mark and Monica Jenzen; eight great grandsons and 15 great granddaughters.

Funeral Services will be held at the First Baptist Church on Monday, February 20, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. Interment will follow the service at Osborne Cemetery in Mayfield, KS.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, February 19, 2012 from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M. The family will be present to greet friends from 4:00 - 6:00 P.M.

Memorial funds have been established with the Alzheimer's Association and the First Baptist Church. Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
