Obituary

Bennie Lee Jefferies of Belle Plaine, KS died June 4, 2018 at the Kansas Veterans Home in Winfield, KS. He was 95.

He was born August 31, 1922 in Harper County, KS. He was the son of Benjamin Harrison Jefferies and Iona Belle (Burdue) Jefferies.

He was a retired farmer and auto salvage owner.

He served in World War II as a tail gunner on a B-17 in the 8 th Air Force.

He was a member of the Church of Christ, the VFW of Wellington, KS and the World War II Historical Society.

He married Twila Marie Gleason on October 25, 1942. She preceded him in death on March 27, 2004.

He is survived by two sons, Lawrence Wayne Jefferies and spouse Donna of Branson, MO and James Alan Jefferies and spouse Gladys of Belle Plaine, KS; one sister, Elma Maye Freeman of Tulsa, OK; five grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife; parents; and sister, Faye Yoder Tilson.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, June 8, 2018 at the Church of Christ in Wellington, KS with Mr. Gary Bodine and Mr. Michael Nelson officiating.

Interment will be at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Garden of Valor, in Wichita, KS at 3:00 P.M.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, June 7, 2018 from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M. The family will be present to greet friends from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M.

A memorial has been established with Carpenter Place. Contributions can be left at or mailed to the funeral home.

Frank Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
