Betty Jane Carter, age 87, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away Sunday morning, September 25, 2011 at Golden Living Center in Wellington, KS.

Betty Jane (McNair) Carter was born on February 17, 1924 in Newton, KS to Homer McNair and Gertrude (Fagan) McNair.

Betty married Dale E. Carter on April 24, 1945 at the First Baptist Church in Wellington. He preceded her in death on March 25, 2008.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, painting, fishing, traveling, and vacationing in their R.V.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Dale.

Survivors include her two sons, Stephen Carter and his wife Debbie of Amarillo, TX and Charles Carter and his wife Sharon of Olathe, KS; sister, Dorothy Funk of San Angelo, TX; four grandchildren, Shanda, Matt, Penny, and Bree; and great grandchildren, Ainsley, Cole, Isaac, Avyn, Destany, and a great grandchild due in February.

Funeral Services will be held at Frank Funeral Home on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. Chaplain Dan Floyd will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Sumner Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, September 30, 2011 from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.

A memorial has been established with the Wellington Food Bank. Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
