Billie L. Bickel, age 79, life long Wellington resident, passed away early Thursday morning, July 18, 2013 at her home. She was a homemaker and a retired inspector at Oxwell, Inc.
Billie L. (Mitchell) Bickel was born on August 17, 1933 in Wellington, KS to William Lou Mitchell and Georgia Estelle (Stamm) Mitchell. She was a Wellington High School graduate with the Class of 1951.
She married Clifford E. Bickel on March 7, 1969 in Wellington, KS.
She was a member of the First Christian Church, CWF Women's group at the church, and the Whirl-A-Ways Square Dancing Club. She enjoyed fishing and camping with her husband and traveling in their RV.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her infant daughter; two brothers; one sister; three grandsons; one great grandson; and one great granddaughter.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Clifford of Wellington; sons, Steve Glenn and his wife Gayle of Mayfield and Gary Bickel and his wife Virginia of Wellington; daughters, Sherlene Rowe and her husband Ron of Caldwell and Becca Dixon and her husband Mike of Wellington; brother, Jack Mitchell of Wellington; 16 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; and 13 great great grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held at the First Christian Church on Monday, July 22, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. Pastor Don Bryant will officiate. There will be a private family burial at Prairie Lawn Cemetery.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
A memorial has been established with St. Jude Children's Hospital. Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
