Billy Eugene Iames, age 81, passed away at his home in Wellington, KS on February 16, 2008.

Billy Eugene Iames was born on January 11, 1927 in Wellington, KS. His grandparents Hiram C. Iames and Stella Mae (Morris) Iames raised him. On May 25, 1944, Bill married Betty J. McLain. She preceded him in death. He served in the Navy and Reserves during WWII and in Korea from 1944-1952.

Bill married Crezia Vonell (Horn) Fisk on November 9, 1973. He retired in 1989 from the Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad after 46 years of employment in the clerical department.

Bill was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He took great delight in all the children. He was a man of solid character and a gentle soul. He was an accomplished carpenter and craftsman of cabinet making. He was a dedicated volunteer of Panhandle Federal Credit Union for 48 years and was honored for his contributions, dedication and insight to the success of Panhandle Federal Credit Union in December 2007. He was also a member of the First Christian Church, American Legion and Transportation Communication Union.

Bill was preceded in death by his grandparents; his mother, Jewel McGaughey; first wife Betty (McLain) Iames; brothers, Eddie Stiger and Bill McGaughey.

Bill is survived by his wife of 34 years, Vonell Iames of Wellington, KS; one daughter, Sharon Keith and her husband Robert of Wellington, KS; two stepsons, Rob "Robie" Fisk and his wife Kathi of Atlanta, GA. and Kelly Fisk and his wife Brenda of Albany, GA.; six granddaughters, Lisa Reitz and her husband Chris of Shawnee, KS, Brenna Fisk and her husband Justin Couch of Winder, GA, Kelli McElreath and her husband Shawn of Acworth, GA, Erin Fisk and her husband Joe Scharko-Fisk of Dahlonega, GA, Shamra Rivera and Newt Fisk of Kennesaw, GA; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Miller of St. George, KS and Emma Dean Eickhorst of Richland, MO.; one surviving aunt, Martha Van Hoy of Fairview, OK and many neices, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Christian Church in Wellington, KS. Reverend Kendale d. Finley and Pastor D. L. Carter will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Sumner Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, February 18, 2008 from 1:00 – 9:00 P.M.
The casket will be closed at the church.

Memorials have been established with the First Christian Church and Hospice Care of Kansas in lieu of flowers. Contributions can be left or mailed to Frank Funeral Home.
