Bobby Lee Purdy, age 76, long time South Haven and Hunnewell, KS resident, passed away January 22, 2015 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Wellington. Bobby retired from Cessna Aircraft after 34 years working as a Welder, Inspector, and Crew Chief.
Bobby was born on August 14, 1938 in Blackwell, OK to Reuben Edward Purdy and Cora C. (Kuehn) Purdy. He was raised in Blackwell and served as an electrician in the U. S. Navy from 1955-1959.
He married Agnes L. Korbel on January 15, 1960 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blackwell, OK.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching football, being with family, and following any sport coached by Coach Hughes. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Blackwell, OK and also a member of NRA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Melvin Purdy and Marvin Purdy; two sisters-in-law, Wilma Purdy and Dorothy Purdy; one brother-in-law, Hugh L. Hurd.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Agnes Purdy of South Haven, KS; one daughter, Carla Crenshaw and her husband Dan of South Haven, KS; two brothers, Max Purdy and his wife Edith, and Wayne Purdy and his wife Jean all of Blackwell, OK; sister, Merlyn Hurd of New York City; sister-in-law, Lelia Wilson-Hine of Braman, OK; three grandchildren, Emily Crenshaw and her fiancé Michael Harding, Zeke Crenshaw and Amber Hall and her daughter Baylie, and Seth Crenshaw; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at the South Haven Methodist Church on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. Pastor C. M. Wilson will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Rose Hill Cemetery in South Haven.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, January 26, 2015 from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 – 7:00 P.M.
A memorial has been established with the South Haven Methodist Church. Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
