Brenda M. Turner 67, recently died at her home in Wellington. Brenda was born in Springfield, Missouri on February 7, 1940, to Raymond W. and Hellena A. Moore. Brenda graduated for Valdosta High School in Valdosta, Georgia in 1958. She married John F. Turner on November 25, 1961, at Moody Air Force Base, Georgia. She was an amazing daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She was an active member of the Air Force Officers' Wives Club, an elementary school aide, a vocal participant in the initiative to save the Memorial Auditorium, an ardent conservationist and an avid reader. She loved her family very much and leaves a lasting legacy of independence and the value of hard work and dedication. She gave up her dream of pursuing a career in the medical field to ensure her children were able to achieve their own dreams. Despite the tragic loss of her young son to a drunk driver, Brenda was an extremely proud and independent woman who raised her children to believe that the sky was not the limit, but merely the beginning.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in law; Leigh Ann and Dirk Leas of Princeton, New Jersey, Lori and Mark Maldonado of Springfield, Virginia; four grandchildren; Liam Leas, of Princeton, New Jersey, Laura, Sarah and Amanda Maldonado, of Springfield, Virginia; and brother, Richard A. Moore, of North Augusta, South Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and son, John R. Turner II.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund to honor Brenda M. Turner has been established with the children's library at the Wellington Public Library. Contributions may be left with Frank Funeral Home.
A private family service is planned. Friends are invited to sign the guest register at Frank Funeral Home, Wednesday and Thursday, May 23 and 24, 2007 from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
