Carl Ray Shaddix, 79, of Wellington, retired Kansas Highway Patrol Motor Carrier Inspector, died Sunday, June 6, 2021 at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, KS.
Carl was born January 15, 1942 in Eakly, OK to William and Alta Shaddix. Carl spent most of his youth living with various family members and ended up in Wellington where he met his future wife, Virginia. He and Virginia married on August 13, 1963 in Newkirk, OK.
Carl loved family cookouts, fishing, camping, game nights with friends, westerns, and spoiling his very precious great-grandsons.
Carl was preceded in death by his daughter Diana, full siblings Kenneth, Bobby Joe Sr., Syble Newton, Marie Eubank, Gene Barringer, Bill, and Margie Ostrander, half siblings Velma, Lorene Jones, Pat, Zeb, and Lola Gandy.
He is survived by his wife Virginia, son Steven, grandsons Garrett (Jamie) and Conner, and great-grandsons, Oliver and Remington.
Graveside services will be Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 10:30 A.M. at Sumner Memorial Gardens in Wellington. Pastor James Byers will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to the First Christian Church in Wellington in Carl's name. Contributions can be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
