Obituary

Angeline Carole (Hedrick) Paisley entered this world on January 10, 1929. She was the first child to Annie (Sandell) Hedrick and Frank M. Hedrick of Caldwell, KS. Later a baby sister, Marlene, was added to the family.

Carole, as she was always called lost her mother at the age of 4. Nevertheless, she could recall many happy memories with her mother. Her father did not feel he was up to the task of raising 2 small children. Thus, their maternal grandfather John O. Sandell and Uncle Walter L. Sandell chose to raise them. Carole said they always had a good home and were raised by two gentlemen.

Carole enjoyed helping on the farm just south of Mayfield, KS. She loved all of the animals there, especially the cats. She shared her little girl secrets with them. She started cooking at the age of ten and became an accomplished cook and baker.

In her teen years after finishing her schooling Carole worked in her Uncle Sherman's general store in St. Joe, KS. Her wit and hard work ethic were much appreciated.

Later, she returned to the farm and met her future husband, Calvin M. Paisley. They were married on July 26, 1948 in Argonia, KS. From this union 4 children were born. They remained married until his death on May 30, 1984, which spanned almost 36 years together. Carole loved her children dearly. When asked "who her favorite child was?" she replied she did not have a favorite. She loved them all.

She lived in Milan, KS for over 50 years. She was active in community events. In the 1980s, she first became a write-in vote for the position of Milan councilwoman. Carole continued in that position until around 2009. Carole served her community admirably.

Carole helped many people along the way in her life. She opened her home to relatives and animals that needed a home. She made people feel welcome and shared what she had with them. She always put her family before her own wants and needs.

She was a talented artist, story teller, and singer. Many times she used that talent to amuse her family and friends. She was a beautiful person inside and out. She was very stylish and her family was always proud of her conduct, character, wisdom and intelligence. She was not afraid of work and was always willing to help throughout her life. She believed in education and what it could do to change a person's life. She highly valued the armed services and the people that served in them. She loved her United States, but she was also proud of her Swedish heritage.

Carole always tried to make the best of any situation. She was an honest person with an even-temperament. She believed in God and the salvation he promised us through Jesus Christ.

Carole left this world on June 24, 2019 to be reunited with her mother, family and friends. She will be sorely missed. She is survived by the following: Her sister; Marlene Boatright. Her children; Helen (Dick) Rayburn of Yankton, SD, Melvin (Pennie) Paisley of Caldwell, Karen (Lewis) Stiner of Crane, MO and Janice (Gordon) Grimm of Goddard. Six grandchildren; Queena (Jon) Getskow, Heather Rayburn, Rachel Rayburn, Joshua Greenwood, Justin Grimm and Jennifer (Ryne) Grimm-Siemon. Two great grandchildren; Sierra and Gretchen Getskow and nephews; Glenn Logue, Richard Logue and David Logue. We are all very proud to have known such a wonderfully courageous and loving woman. She lived to the age of 90 years, 5 months and 14 days.
