Obituary

Charles E. Higgins, age 88, life long Wellington resident, passed away June 30, 2006 at Sumner Regional Medical Center. He was a machinist for Harlow Tool in Wichita, KS for 20 years. He also worked at Plessey Welco for 10 years.

Charles E. Higgins was born on July 11, 1917 in Skull Valley, AZ to Hugh H. and Mabel I. (Smith) Higgins.

Charles married Lela Ruth Mayes on July 26, 1943 in Newkirk, OK. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, woodworking, and country music.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; two sisters; and two grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years Lela Higgins of Wellington; three sons Hugh Higgins and his wife Linda of Wellington, Joe Higgins of Wellington, and Charles Higgins of South Haven; four daughters Ramona Cooley of Washington state, Donna Jean of Nevada, Charlene Green of Quinlan, TX, and Katharine Myers and her husband Charles of Wichita; one sister Dorothy McEachern of Wellington; 11 Grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.

Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on July 5, 2006 at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Wellington. Pastor Earl Brown of the Joy Fellowship Church will officiate.

A memorial has been established with Odyssey Health Care. Contributions can be left at the Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday, July 3, 2006 from 1:00 – 9:00 P.M. and on Tuesday, July 4, 2006 from 1:00 – 5:00 P.M.
