Obituary

Clarence Eugene "Gene" Newell, age 93, passed away at Sumner Regional Medical Center on Friday, April 19, 2013. Gene owned and operated Newell Feed and Seed in Wellington for many years and was also a sales representative for Century Labs.

Gene was born on November 6, 1919 in Wellington, KS to Clarence E. and Vera S (Nolan) Newell.

He married Maxine N. McGregor on July 4, 1954 in El Dorado, KS. She preceded him in death on February 25, 2003.

He was a member of the Wellington Masonic Lodge, Wichita Consistory, Midian Shrine, and the American Legion. He enjoyed going to the Wellington Senior Center and playing pool and cards. Gene was a people person who never met a stranger.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Maxine.

Survivors include his son, Randall Newell, of Ft. Smith, AR; daughter, Pamela Dauron and Steve Thresher of Little Rock, AR; two grandsons, Brady Staples and his wife Leslie of Scottsdale, AZ and Chad Staples and his wife Angela of Ft. Smith, AR; six great grandchildren, Brooke, Andrew, Coby, Brady, Anna, and Sophia.

Graveside Services will at Prairie Lawn Cemetery on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Don Bryant of the First Christian Church will officiate.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday April 23, 2013 from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M. The family will greet friends from 6:30 – 7:30 P.M.

A memorial has been established with the Wellington Senior Center in lieu of flowers. Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
