Claude Stanley Rice was born on February 3, 1931 in Wellington, KS. He passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at the Life Care Center in Wichita, KS.
He was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Wellington, KS.
Claude served in the United States Army from 1947 to 1950 as a Military Policeman. He joined the Boeing Airplane Company on January 3, 1951 and retired as a General Supervisor on June 1, 1988 at the age of 57 so that he and his wife, Lucille, could spend more time together. He beloved wife and best friend, Lucille Rice, for 43 ½ years preceded him in death on August 17, 2003.
He was also preceded in death by his father, Claude S. Rice (1906-1988) and mother, Myrtle E. (Betty) Rice (1906-1999); sister, Eileen Billy Cantrell (1926-1998) and brother-in-law, Leonard Cantrell (1921-1997); brother-in-law, Bobby Wiley; and niece, Lisa Renee Richardson (1959-1983).
He is survived by two daughters, Sharon Rice of Haysville, KS and Kathy Forrester and her husband Ed of Wichita, KS; sisters, Jerry Wiley, Roberta Richardson, and Linda Rice; three grandchildren, Jessie Rice, Jamie Groom and her husband, Adam, Jessica Lea and her husband Jacob; and two great grandchildren, Jacoby Lea and Adalyn Groom.
Military Graveside Services will be held at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Wellington, KS on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. Pastor David Vetter will officiate.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M.
A memorial has been established with the West Haysville Baptist Church. Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
