Colleen Jeane Carson, a lifelong resident of Wellington, Kansas, passed away on June 17, 2023, at the age of 93 at Villa Maria in Mulvane, Kansas.
Colleen was born the daughter of Earl and Bernadine (Bonham) Shaffer on January 4, 1930 in Wellington, Kansas.
In 1951, Colleen and Burdette Carson were united in marriage and together they created a strong foundation for their family for 43 wonderful years together before Burdette's passing in 1994.
Colleen was a loving and supportive presence to all who knew her. She cherished her role as a homemaker, always focusing on the needs of her family and creating a warm and nurturing environment for her family. Throughout her life, Colleen found joy in simple pleasures such as sewing, cooking, and gardening.
Survivors include her children, Jan (Dan) Daniels and Steve (Susan) Carson; grandchildren: Adam Daniels, Kristen (Dane) Brummett, Erin Daniels, Abbe (Pat) Fountain, and Alyse (Danny) Jackson; along with numerous other family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Earlene Shaffer.
A graveside service for Colleen will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Wellington, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with the Avenue of Flags. Contributions may be mailed or left with the funeral home.
