Corey Douglas Smith, age 45, of El Dorado, KS, passed away Monday, May 26, 2014 at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, KS. He worked as an inspector at Valmont Industries in El Dorado.
Corey was born on December 13, 1968 in Ponca City, OK to John Douglas Smith III and Claudine Fay (Elston) Smith. He was raised in Arkansas City, KS.
Corey married Malissa Ann Hernandez on January 7, 1991 in Newkirk, OK.
Survivors include his wife, Malissa Smith of Wellington; two children, Molly Smith of Wellington and Megin Bannister and her husband Colby of Wellington; mother, Claudine Smith of Wichita; grandmother, Delores Smith of Wellington; brother, Michael Smith of Pawnee, OK; sister, Carissa Fennell and her husband Andre of Wichita; four grandchildren, Trenton, Dustin, Colton, and Karstin.
Funeral Services will be held at the First Christian Church in Wellington, KS on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow the service at Prairie Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, May 30, 2014 from 3:00 – 8:00 P.M. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 – 7:00 P.M.
A memorial has been established with the Wellington Recreation Center. Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
