Obituary

Irvin Dale Hines, age 86, of Wellington, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2020 at the VA Nursing Home in Winfield, KS. He was born March 27, 1934 in Granola, KS to Dorsey and Nola (Crozier) Hines.

After graduation from Winfield High School, Dale attended a year of college and then enlisted in the US Army in 1954. He was stationed in Fort MacArthur, CA and was discharged in 1956. After he left the Army he worked for the Sumner County Road & Bridge and shortly after that began working for the Santa Fe Railroad until his retirement in 1999.

On July 31, 1954 he married Janice Porter in Milan, KS. They made their home in the Wellington area for many years. They were married 42 years when Janice passed away.

February 17, 1998 Dale married Marlene Hutchinson in Miami, Oklahoma. They resided in Wellington.

Dale was a member of the American Legion Post 90 and the Wellington Church of Christ.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Janice, and his sister Bonnie Parker.

He is survived by his wife Marlene; children Deanna (David) Whitley of Stillwater, OK; Eric (Diane) Hines of Perry, OK; and Aaron (Jennifer) Hines of Wellington; 7 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorials have been established with the Avenue of Flags or Good Shepherd Hospice in lieu of flowers .   Contributions can be mailed to the funeral home.
