Daniel Weslie Creed, age 85, long time Sumner County resident, passed away at St. Francis – Harry Hynes Hospice in Wichita, KS on Saturday evening, October 14, 2017. He retired after 42 years as a hand fabricator from Boeing. After he retired he then went to work for USD 353 as a custodian.

Dan was born February 16, 1932 in Rural Anson, KS to Wiley Austin Creed and Dollie Louise (Hare) Creed. He served in the United States Army from January 9, 1953 – December 8, 1954.

He married Marian E. (Good) Helton on July 2, 1976 in Enid, OK.

Dan enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and fishing.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Kerry and Eliga Creed; four sisters, Floria Standridge, Mary Warren, Emma Riggs and Necia Bilson; and stepdaughter, Tanya Higgins.

Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years, Marian of Wellington, KS; son, Dane Creed and his wife Melinda of Jacksonville, FL; three daughters, Danell Morrison of Denver, CO, Debbie Bonebrake and Darla Soifua her husband Emmett all of Kansas City, MO; stepdaughter, Terri Johnson and her husband Jim of Derby, KS; four brothers, Holland Creed of Wellington, KS, William Creed and his wife Royce of Cleora, OK, Fred Creed of Conway Springs, KS and Wiley "Buck" Creed, Jr. of Post Falls, ID; 18 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.


Funeral Services will be held at the First Assembly of God on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. Pastor Marvin J. Miller and Pastor Charles Taff will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the Austin Cemetery in Anson, KS.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 from 1:00 - 8:00 P.M. The family will be present to greet friends at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 P.M.

A memorial has been established with the Wellington High School Clay Target Team in lieu of flowers. Memorials can be mailed to or left at the funeral home.
