Obituary

David Lee Kogle, age 83, formerly of Oxford, KS, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away early Wednesday morning, December 29, 2021 at his home in Wichita, KS.  He went to work for Santa Fe Railroad in 1964 and retired from BNSF Railroad in 1999 after 35 years as a conductor.

David Lee Kogle was born on May 18, 1938 in Wellington, KS to Cecil L. Kogle and Luella E. (Beatty) Kogle.

He joined the United States Army Reserves and served from 1954-1998, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel.

On June 10, 1955 he married Marie Brown in Wichita Falls, TX. They celebrated 66.5 years of marriage.

He enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He also enjoyed traveling, woodworking, gardening, poker and hunting.  He was a member of the Oxford Christian Church, Wellington Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Midian Shrine, National Sojourners and American Legion Tom Schwinn Post 90.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gerald and Roy Kogle.

Survivors include his loving wife, Marie of Wichita, KS; two daughters, Kristy Dennis and her husband Jerry of Monte Vista, CO and Tammy Bartelson and her husband Larry of Oxford, KS; one son, Robbie Kogle and his wife Joan of Wellington, KS; one sister, Connie Fletcher and her husband Everett of Wichita, KS;  nine grandchildren, Adrian Walck and her husband Danny, Arrin Dennis, Chad Bartelson and his wife Jodie, Shelly Russell and her husband Adam, Ross Bartelson and his wife Lonna, Bryce Bartelson, Robin Franke and her husband Dustin, Kailey Jones and her husband Aaron and Austin Kogle and his wife Tish; numerous great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Funeral Services will be held at the Oxford Christian Church on Monday, January 3, 2022 at 1:30 P.M.  Pastor Danny Ginn will officiate.  Interment will follow the service at Osborne Cemetery in Mayfield, KS.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, January 2, 2022 from 1:00 – 5:00 P.M. .  The family will be present to greet friends from 3:00 – 5:00 P.M. In honoring Dave's wishes, the casket will remain closed.

Memorials have been established with Victory in the Valley and the Oxford Christian Church in lieu of flowers.  Contributions can be mailed or left at the funeral home.
