Obituary
Dolores B. Carr, age 93, passed away Friday, May 26, 2017 at Cherished Friends in Wellington, KS. Dolores was a former school teacher/librarian. She retired in 1985.
Dolores (Backhaus) Carr was born on September 30, 1923 in Madison, South Dakota to Charles George Backhaus and Westie Louise (Jung) Backhaus. She graduated from Dakota State College in 1954 and then received her MLS Degree from Western Michigan University in 1968.
Dolores married Arlis B. Carr on August 4, 1970 in Wellington. He preceded her in death on June 21, 2001.
Dolores was a member of the First Christian Church, Sumner County Literacy for Life, Friends of the Wellington Public Library, WARTA, NOW, League of Women Voters, NARVE, and OWL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arlis; three brothers; and four sisters.
Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services will be held at Sumner Memorial Gardens on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. Pastor Sallie Shore will officiate.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M.
A memorial has been established with the Wellington Public Library in lieu of flowers. Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
