Donna Marie Etter, age 92, longtime Wellington resident, passed away April 26, 2022 at her home in Wellington.  She had worked in human resources and accounting at Oxwell for 52 years before she retired in July of 2021.

Donna M. (Day) Etter was born on January 8, 1930 in Conway Springs, KS to Floyd Earl Day and Agnes (Brown) Day.  She was a graduate of Wellington High School with the Class of 1948.

She married James H. Etter on December 4, 1948 at the First Christian Church in Wellington, KS.  Jim preceded her in death in 2003.

Donna was known by her children and grandchildren as "DBI", "Donna Bureau of Investigation" if you wanted to know something she could find it out fast.  Her family also called her "Grandma Nosey" because she was always snooping around and getting nosey about her children's stuff.  She was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary, and the First Christian Church.  She enjoyed playing cards with a group of friends of many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Agnes Day; husband, James H. Etter; brothers, Loren Day and Bob Day; sister, Gerene DeBuhr; son-in-law, Bill Murray; grandson, John Etter; nephew Rick Etter; and father and mother-in-law, Herb and Mabel Etter.

Survivors include her children, James L. Etter of Wellington, Jack Etter and his wife Brenda of Mayfield, and Jeannie Murray and her husband Rod Lewallen of Wellington; nine  grandchildren, Kenny Etter of Wellington, Chris Murray of St. Petersburg, FL, Kip Etter and his wife Kim of Wellington, Lannie Murray of Lake Ronkonkoma, NY, Josh Murray and his wife Sarah of Scottsdale, AZ, and Kami Bock and her husband Kody of Wellington; step-grandchildren, Natasha Pyle and her husband Dan of McPherson, KS, Rowdy Lewallen of Encinitas, CA, Ros Lillis and her husband Helm of Kansas City, KS; nephew, Wayne Etter and his wife Pokie of Wellington; 20 great grandchildren, Jon Etter and Hunter Etter of Florida, Bailey Etter of Wellington, Lauren Anderson and her husband Levi of Wellington, Jessie Reyes and Nic Reyes of  Wellington, MaKenna and Caeden Homayoon of Lake Ronkonkoma, NY, Tyler, Rylee, Bill and Luke Murray of Scottsdale, AZ, Kira Shawn of Buhler, KS, Gaby Mason and Keela Haslouer of Wellington; step-great grandchildren, Eli, Owen, and Jett Pyle of McPherson, KS, Louie Lillis of Kansas City, KS; one great great grandchild, Elliott Etter of Wellington, and three great great grandchildren on the way.

Visitation will be held at Frank Funeral Home on Thursday, May 5, 2022, from 1:00 – 7:00 P.M.  The family will be present to greet friends from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M.

Graveside Services will be held at Prairie Lawn Cemetery on Friday, May 6, 2022 at 10:00 A.M.  Pastor James Byers of the First Christian Church will officiate.

Memorials have been established with the Wellington Humane Society and the Avenue of Flags in lieu of flowers.  Contributions can be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
