Donnie H. Rose, age 86, Wellington resident, passed away at Park West Plaza in Wichita, KS on May 4, 2009. He was a retired car inspector for the Santa Fe Railroad.
Donnie H. Rose was born on June 15, 1922 in Milan, KS to Robert E. Rose and Anne E. (Spitznogle) Rose. He was a Wellington High School graduate. He served in the United States Army during WWII from 1942 – 1945.
On June 15, 1947 he married Joy L. Wegand in Wellington, KS. They had celebrated 60 years of marriage before Joy preceded him in death on September 15, 2007.
Donnie was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and the Brotherhood of Carman of America. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and gardening.
Donnie is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joy; and four brothers.
Survivors include his son, William "Van" Rose and his wife Angela of Wichita, KS and his daughter, Melody Ann Green and her companion Larry Walker of Enid, OK; two sisters, Izora Bryant of Sylmar, CA and Leta Posch of Wichita, KS; four grandchildren, Shannon Cooper, Kristen Brownlee, Addison, and Greyson Rose; and three great grandchildren, Zach, Brandon, and Mason.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 8, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Frank Funeral Home. Pastor Dean Apel of the Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Wichita will officiate.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2009 from 1:00 – 9:00 P.M. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.
A memorial has been established with the Avenue of Flags. Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
