Dorothy Ann McEntire, age 84, loving wife, mother, and grandmother and Wellington resident since 1954, passed away early Monday morning, March 17, 2008 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Wellington, KS. She was a dietician and cook at Cedar View Nursing Home for 23 years. She retired in 1986.
Dorothy Ann (Tideman) McEntire was born on April 2, 1923 in St. Louis, MO to Charles C. Tideman and Mary Ellen (Turner) Tideman. She graduated from Sand Springs High School in Sand Springs, OK in 1941.
Dorothy Ann Tideman married Earle E. McEntire on October 17, 1953 in Tulsa, OK.
She enjoyed crocheting, reading and was an avid baseball fan, especially the Cubs and the Braves.
She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and two sisters.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Earle E. McEntire of Wellington, KS; two sons, Kenneth McEntire and his wife Andy of Wellington, KS and Charles McEntire and his wife Alice of Tulsa, OK; one daughter, Sally Ann Hawley and her husband Hugh of Peoria, AZ; one brother, Jim Tideman of Tacoma, WA; two sisters, Alma Miranda of Reno, NV and Betty "Pookie" Stewart of Tulsa, OK; seven grandchildren, Serina McEntire, Kassie McEntire, Jami Ames, Charlie McEntire, Rebecca McEntire, Stephanie Fogelson, and Jessica Hawley; and eight great grandsons.
Funeral Services will be held at Frank Funeral Home on Thursday, March 20, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. Chaplain Dan Floyd will officiate. There will be a private family interment at a later date.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 from 11:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.
A memorial has been established with Hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions can be mailed or left at Frank Funeral Home.
