Dorothy Louise Rains, age 87, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away early Sunday morning, January 28, 2007, at her home in Wellington, KS. Dorothy was a life long Sumner County resident and a Wellington resident since 1981 moving to Wellington from the family farm.

Dorothy Louise (Martens) Rains was born on September 6, 1919 in Caldwell, KS to William F. Martens and Ellen (Howe) Martens. On October 9, 1938 she married Dale Rains in Salina, KS. He preceded her in death in 1987.

Dorothy was a member of the Hillside Baptist Church. She enjoyed golfing, fishing, bowling and spending time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Dale Rains; a brother Bill; and a sister Margaret.

Survivors include her two sons, Clark Rains and his wife Carolyn of Wellington, KS and Roger Rains and his wife Carla of Wellington, KS; a daughter Pam Weber and her husband Leroy of Rose Hill, KS; and sister Genevieve Rose of Wichita, KS; seven grandchildren; three step grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. at the Hillside Baptist Church. Pastor Kenny Kelly will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the Caldwell Cemetery in Caldwell, KS.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, January 29, 2007 from 1:00 – 9:00 P.M.

Memorials have been established with the American Cancer Society and Hilliside Baptist Church. Contributions can be left or mailed to the funeral home.
