Edward Martin "Eddie" Ybarra, age 56, longtime Wellington resident, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2014 at Golden Living Center in Wellington, KS. He was a current resident of the Mosaic Group Home in Winfield, KS.
Edward Martin Ybarra was born October 30, 1957 to Paul Ybarra and Irene J (Jaramillo) Ybarra in Wellington, KS. He was a Wellington High School graduate with the Class of 1977. He was one of the first employees at Futures Unlimited.
Eddie was a member of St. Anthony/St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was an avid sports fan, especially the Dallas Cowboys and the Kansas Jayhawks. He was recently crowned Valentine King 2014 at the Mosaic Home Valentine's event.
He is survived by his loving parents, Paul and Irene of Wellington; one brother, Stephen Ybarra and his wife Flo of Wellington; two sisters, Veronica Triana of Wichita and Paula Campa and her husband Casimiro of Wellington; eight nieces and nephews, Stephanie Hopper and her husband Joe of Colwich, KS, Janelle Triana of Dallas, TX, Ricki Camargo and his wife Jamie of Austin, TX, Nick Ybarra of Wellington, KS, Nathan Ybarra and his wife Jodi of Lone Tree, CO, Natalie Santonil and her husband John of Park City, KS, Noah Ybarra of Kansas City, KS and Carlos Moran of Mayfield, KY; five great nephews, Joshua Hopper, Samuel Hopper, Braeden Ybarra, Knox Santonil and Leo Santonil; and one great niece, Olivia Hopper; and his Mosaic Group Home friends in Winfield, KS.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday, March 13, 2014 from 1:00 –5:00 P.M.
Rosary will be held at St. Anthony and St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Wellington, KS on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at 7:00 P.M.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 14, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Anthony and St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Father Andrew J. Seiler will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Wellington, KS.
A memorial has been established with the Mosaic Group Home for disabled adults in Winfield, KS. Contributions can be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
