Obituary

Eldon Eugene "Link" Wilkerson, age 77, life long Wellington resident, passed away Tuesday morning, April 17, 2007 at his home in Wellington, KS. Link was a retired carman with the Santa Fe Railroad.

Eldon Eugene Wilkerson was born on May 22, 1929 in Rural Sumner County, Kansas to Elbert Elijah and Goldie Elsie (Schriner) Wilkerson. He was in the U. S. Army and served in Korea from 1951-1953. He was a member of the UTU, American Legion, and VFW.

He was a loving uncle and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed collecting coins and was also a certified Morse Code operator.

He is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Leona Brand, Dellta and Dessie Wilkerson; four brothers, Merle, Wayne, Wilbur, and Dale Wilkerson; and nephews, Norman Wilkerson who lost his life in Korea, and Gary and Greg Wilkerson, and Glen Green.

Survivors include his care giver, Theresa Kent and her husband Tom of Arkansas City, KS; nieces and nephews, Pam Newman and her husband Mike of Newkirk, OK, Bob Ketterman and his wife Naomi of Arkansas City, KS, Mike Ketterman of Wellington, KS, Malinda Biggler of Wellington, KS, Lana Alexander and her husband Everett of Owassa, OK, Verla Green of Owassa, OK, Kay Westphal and her husband Ron of Vashon Island, WA, Dr. Bill Brand and his wife Carolyn of Tacoma, WA, Jerry Mike Wilkerson and his wife Yolanda of Wellington, KS, Terry Wilkerson and his wife Peggy of Kansas City, MO, Cheryl Wilkerson of Severy, KS, Jeff Wilkerson of San Diego, CA, Judy Meslin and her husband Jerry of Wellington, KS, sister-in-laws Mildred Wilkerson of Wellington, KS, Alta Wilkerson of Wellington, KS, Wilma Wilkerson of Riverside, MO, Mary Wilkerson of Kansas City, KS; and many great and great great nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services will be held on Friday, April 20, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at the Osborne Cemetery in Mayfield, KS. Pastor James Newman will officiate.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, April 19, 2007 from 1:00 to 9:00 P.M.

A memorial has been established with Relay for Life – Team Windjammers. Contributions can be left at or mailed to Frank Funeral Home.
