Obituary

Eleanor Joetta Teal Galbreath Herndon, retired Certified Medications Aide went home to be with her Lord after 86 years on August 27, 2006.

Eleanor Joetta Teal was born in Wellington, KS on March 24, 1920 to Joseph Teal and Elnora (Pulley) Teal.

Mrs. Herndon lived a long and wonderful life working in the health field and looking after the well being of her family. She was a strong and very independent woman who would never take charity from any one without wanting to repay them some how. It was just her way. She strived to make life for her family one that allowed them to know respect for themselves and to others and that they were able to be and achieve whatever they chose to be in this world. She always gave of herself in many ways, never once complained or be the one to say "I told you so." Instead she held the role of taking an inward pride knowing you have succeeded. She was a truly devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. She is truly a bright star in God's Heaven. Words can never express the loss we feel and a space that can never be filled that is left in our hearts.

Eleanor is predeceased in death by her parents, Joseph and Elnora Teal, and her husband of 50 years, George Herndon, Jr.

Mrs. Herndon leaves to carry on her legacy and memories two sons, John and Ricardo, one daughter, Gina Cherie; ten grandchildren, Karen, Jacqueline, Dahlia, Ella Mae, Gaylene, John, Nathaniel, Zoe, Elijah, and Tavyn; There are five great grandchildren, Jacquith, Denise, Brittany, Tessa, and Ana; one great great granddaughter, Shantae; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends. We offer a special acknowledgement to Judy and Leroy Lewis, Jon and Corey Calloway, Carmelita Galbreath, Della Embray, Chico Ansley and Drayton (Flipper) Carter whom she loved and supported as her family over the years.

Funeral Services will be held at the Wellington Church of Christ on Saturday, September 2, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. Cremation will take place after the service as to her last request.
