Obituary

Elva Alvira "Ally" Nail, age 92, lifelong Wellington resident, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2012 at Northeast Methodist Hospital in Live Oak, TX.

Elva Alvira Nail was born on May 5, 1919 in Wabaunsee County, KS to Daniel Bunnel Woody and Ida May (Sage) Woody.

Ally and Ernest "Cleo" Nail were married on September 3, 1939 in La Crosse, KS. He preceded her in death on February 13, 2012.

Ally was a homemaker and beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother – who greatly enjoyed family gatherings, and will always be remembered for her devotion to her family. Her love was reflected by the many hours she spent crocheting and knitting delicate doilies, tablecloths, afghans, and a favorite among her family, beautiful house slippers. Ally and her husband Cleo were avid card players and enjoyed monthly card games in their home with friends for years.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cleo; and one sister, Emaline Alice.

Survivors include three sons, John Nail and his wife Cindy of Cibolo, TX, Jack Nail and his wife Kay of Topeka, KS and Joe Nail and his wife Vonda of Wichita, KS; two brothers, Lavern Daniel Woody of Wellington, KS and Larry Dean Woody of Wichita, KS; eight grandchildren, Valerie Slaughter & Family of Topeka, KS, Danelle Hammond & Family of Valley Center, KS, Jason Nail & Family of League City, TX, Derek Nail & Family of Wichita, KS, Jennifer Nail of Topeka, KS, Dustin Nail & Family of Wichita, KS, Jared Nail of League City, TX and Daren Nail of Wichita, KS; 12 great grandchildren, Chelsie Slaughter, Colby Slaughter, Johnathan Hammond, Matthew Hammond, Daniel Hammond, Jayda Nail, Drake Nail, Briella Nail, Jordynn Nail, Felicity Nail, Teagan Morrow and Camden Morrow.

Funeral Services will be held at the Frank Funeral Home in Wellington, KS on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Leon Hiebert will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Sumner Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, March 30, 2012 from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M.

Memorial funds have been established with the American Diabetes Association, Alzheimer's Association and American Heart Association. Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
