Enrique "Henry" Castaneda, age 80, of Wichita, KS, formerly of Wellington, passed away Monday, July 16, 2012 at Via Christi St. Francis, Harry Hynes Hospice Unit in Wichita, KS. Henry worked as a welder for the Santa Fe Railroad for 43 years.
Enrique Castaneda was born on September 28, 1931 in Gary, Indiana to Secundino Castaneda and Cristina Arteaga.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and was a wonderful father and grandfather and cherished his relationships with each of them. He also enjoyed traveling and bowling.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Efrem Castaneda; and one infant sister.
Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Jesusa "Susie" (Guajardo) Castaneda of Wichita, KS; four sons, Eugene Garcia and his wife Liz of El Paso, TX; Enrique Castaneda, Jr. of Manhattan, KS, Angelo Castaneda of Wichita, KS, and Esteban Castaneda and his wife Andrea of Wichita, KS; one daughter, Sandra Blankinship and her husband Lee of Amarillo, TX; two brothers, Andy Castaneda and his wife Teresa of Wellington, KS and Ramiro Castaneda and his wife Lupe of Guadalajara, Mexico; four sisters, Eva Castaneda, Consuelo Lopez and her husband Jose, and Rosa Ochoa and her husband Guillermo all of Guadalajara, Mexico, and Cristina Castaneda of Kansas City, KS; nine grandchildren, Madison and EJ Garcia, Estin, Ian, Madelyn, and Kale Castaneda, and Justin, Heather, and Aidan Blankinship; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Rosary will be held at St. Anthony/St. Rose Catholic Church on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at 7:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 23, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Anthony/St. Rose Catholic Church. Father Lawrence Carney will officiate.
A memorial has been established with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. Contributions can be mailed to or left at the funeral home.
