Obituary

Fern "Earleen" Brown, age 85, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, passed away Sunday morning, September 26, 2021 at her home in Wellington, KS. She worked for many years as a clerk for Glasco Drug and in the bakery at IGA.

Fern "Earleen" (McMillin) Brown was born on December 19, 1935 in Wellington, KS to Ernest E. McMillin and Thelma M. (Moyer) Brown.

Earleen married Earl Brown on April 4, 1954 in Wellington, KS. They celebrated 66 years of marriage before he passed away December 5, 2020. They made their home in Wellington and after Earl's retirement he served as Pastor for Joy Fellowship. He and Earleen tirelessly served their congregation and this community.

She loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed animals, especially cats and dogs.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl Brown; two sons, Wayne Brown and Dale Brown; and two sisters, Sandra Brashear and Merle Lee Patterson.

Survivors include her son, Rick Brown and his wife Debic of Wellington, KS, two daughters, Connie Ozbun of Winfield, KS and Linda Vaughan and her husband Scott of Wellington, KS; daughter in law, Margie Brown of Wellington, KS; three sisters, Betty Mraz and her husband J.E., Darlene Woods and Elaine Riggs and her husband LeRoy all of Wellington, KS; 18 grandchildren, Chris, Julia, Rachel, Jessica, JJ, LaTonya, Tori, Josh, Mandy, Justin, Kristina, Natasha, Brooks, Connor, Richard, Michael, John and Susana; and numerous great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Wellington, KS on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 10:00 A.M.  Pastor Zane Brooks will officiate.  Interment will follow at Sumner Memorial Gardens in Wellington, KS.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, October 1, 2021 from 9:00 – 7:00 P.M.  The family will be present to greet friends from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M.

A memorial has been established with the Wellington Humane Society in lieu of flowers. Contributions can be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
