Obituary

Frank Llewellyn Blodgett, age 81, life long Wellington resident, and loving husband, father, and papa, passed away Monday evening , April 23, 2012 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Wellington, KS.

Frank was born on March 29, 1931 in Wellington, KS to Robert Earl Blodgett and Grace May (Fuller) Blodgett. He was a graduate of Wellington High School with the Class of 1950.

Frank hired on with the Santa Fe Railroad as a part time worker during his senior year in high school. In January of 1951 he went to work for the track department. In June of 1952 he was promoted to Fireman. In August of 1952 he entered the United States Army and served in the Korean War. After being honorably discharged from the Army in 1954 he returned to work for the Santa Fe being promoted to Engineer in 1964. He retired in 1999 with 49 years of service.

He married Ruth A. Stingley on July 25, 1958 in Ponca City, OK. They celebrated 53 years of marriage last summer.

Frank was a member of the First Christian Church, American Legion, VFW, and the United Transportation Union.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert Merle. Blodgett; and two grandsons, Jeremy Lynn and Joshua Ret Butler.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Blodgett of Wellington; three daughters, Kathleen Cochran of Everrett, WA, Carolyn Heidel of Livinston, TX, and Teresa Butler of Derby, KS; grandchildren, Matthew Cochran and his wife Janey of Wichita, KS, Krisha Blodgett of Livingston, TX, Betina Faught and her husband Kenny of Mulvane, KS, and Jessica Butler and Adam Niswander of Wichita, KS; seven great grandchildren, Jasper, Josephine and Murdoc Cochran, Kathryn Annabelle Clemens, and Amy, Elizabeth and Kade Faught.

Funeral Services will be held at the First Christian Church in Wellington on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Don Bryant will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Prairie Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, April 27, 2012 from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.

Memorials have been established with the American Heart Association and the First Christian Church in Wellington. Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
