Frank Lopez, age 78, long time Wellington resident, passed away at Via Christi Regional Medical Center on Friday morning, February 22, 2008.
Frank was born on March 14, 1929 in Nardin, OK to Juan Lopez and Manuela (Castillo) Lopez.
Frank worked for the Santa Fe Railroad from 1944 until his retirement on March 16, 1990.
He married Basilisa "Bess" Montenegro on January 19, 1952 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Wellington, KS.
He served in the United States Army from 1952 – 1954. He was a member of the VFW and the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. His hobbies included woodworking and gardening.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Delores Gutierrez and Guadalupe Lopez.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Bess Lopez of Wellington, KS; two sons, Richard Lopez and his wife Elaine of Wichita, KS and Michael Lopez and his wife Theresa of Wichita, KS; three daughters, Rose Robinson and her husband Dave of Wichita, KS, Diane Lopez of Wellington, KS, and Teresa Escalante and her husband Chris of Wichita, KS; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Vigil Service and Rosary will be held on Monday evening, February 25, 2008 at 7:00 P.M. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Father Andrew J. Seiler will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Prairie Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, February 25, 2008 from 9:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.
A memorial has been established with St. Anthony/St. Rose Parish Fund. Contributions can be mailed or left at Frank Funeral Home.
