Obituary

Freddie Eugene Cottle, age 91, of South Haven, KS, passed away Wednesday afternoon, September 23, 2015 at the Wellington Health and Rehab facility in Wellington, KS.

Fred Cottle, the son of Roy and Beulah (Robinson) Cottle, was born at home on the Drury Road, South Haven, KS on June 8, 1924. Freddie was the youngest of four children.

Upon graduating from High School in 1942, Freddie started farming, custom harvesting, and working for Boeing Aircraft. After planting 69 wheat crops and working 41 years at Boeing he decided it was time to retire. Fred joined the South Haven Methodist Church in 2001.

He met Marjy at the South Haven High School Alumni Banquet in 1998. She had driven up from Granbury, TX for her 55th Class Reunion. They exchanged telephone numbers and the courtship between Kansas and Texas began. They were married in Judge Roy Bean's Chapel in Eureka Springs, AR on February 1, 2001.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two sisters, Lillian Johnson and Eunice Ingle; and son, Terry Wrench.

Survivors include his wife, Marjy of South Haven, KS; two children, Mike Cottle of Bakersfield, CA and Rosalyn Barney of Winfield, KS; sister, Gladys Grimm of Caldwell, KS; and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held at the United Methodist Church in South Haven, KS on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at 3:00 P.M. Pastor Darren Williams will officiate. Interment will be at Sumner Memorial Gardens on Monday morning, September 28, 2015 at 11:00 A.M.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday afternoon, September 26, 2015 from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M. The family will greet friends from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M.

A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society. Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
