George N. Davis, age 85, long time Wellington resident passed away September 16, 2017 at Sumner Regional Medical Center. Through the years he worked as a machinist for Machine Products and GEC. He retired from GEC in 1994.

George N. Davis was born on February 19, 1932, in Kansas City, MO to George Nelson Davis, Sr. and Genieva (Trocosso) Davis.

George married Opal L. Crewse on October 18, 1952 in Clinton, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jack and Marion Davis; one sister, Leona Hoover, and one granddaughter, Tina Clow.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Opal Davis of Wellington; three sons, Doyle Davis and Kenny Davis of Wellington, John Davis of Ohio; two daughters, Karen Metz and her husband C. B. of Oxford, KS and Irene Andrews and her husband Philip of Arkansas City, KS; one brother, Robert Davis and his wife Carol of Wichita, KS; 13 grandchildren; and 29 great grandchildren.

Graveside Services will be held at the Oxford Cemetery on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. C. B. Metz will officiate.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M. The family will be present to greet friends from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M.

A memorial has been established with the Wellington Humane Society. Contributions can be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
