Obituary
George C. Hitt, 82, retired Lt. Col. Air Force and Project Manager for Battelle, passed away on Sunday November 19, 2017.
George was civically minded and active in the many communities he called home through the years. He helped found the Troy, IL Soccer Club, where he coached not only his children, but the community's. He was on the Wellington Airport board, a member of the Lions organization and local book club. He was an active member of the Roman Catholic Church. All who know him can testify he was a stubborn man with the best heart.
Born July 17, 1935 in Wellington, KS, he was the proud son of Olin and Bernice (Trollope) Hitt.
George is survived by his 7 children, who he loved and was proud of every one of them: Elizabeth, Cathy (Jeff Ray), Zachary, Luke (Ibis), Michael, Jeremiah (Susie), and Dakota, 10 grandchildren, and his brother, Ellis (Bev) and sister, Marjorie.
Funeral Mass on Friday November 24, 2017 at 10:00am at St. Anthony/St. Rose Catholic Church Wellington, KS with Father Pham. He will be laid to rest on a later date in Alaska.
