GEORGE EDWARD STINSON, SR.
OBITUARY
George Edward Stinson, Sr., age 89, life long Wellington resident, passed away Thursday morning, May 25, 2006 at Slate Creek Good Samaritan Center. Along with his father, he was the co-owner of Stinson Produce for many years. He then went to work for Cessna Aircraft where he was a tube bender. He retired from there after 25 years of service.
George Edward Stinson, Sr., was born on February 3, 1917 in Wichita, KS to Edward and Marie (Stiles) Stinson. He entered the United States Navy and served from November of 1944 to April of 1946. He married Ruth Dusing on April 13, 1947.
George and Ruth had a wonderful time traveling the United States by motorcycle. They were also able to travel Europe extensively. He was a life member of the Wellington Elks Lodge, American Legion, and the VFW.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Ruth Stinson of Wellington; daughter Ann Leis and her husband Jeff of Oxford, KS; son George Stinson, Jr. of Utah; sister Tharon Hill of Magnolia, TX; and grandson Samuel Leis of Oxford, KS.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday morning, May 30, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. at Sumner Memorial Gardens. Pastor Sallie Shore of the First Christian Church will officiate.
Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday, May 29, 2006 from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M.
Memorials have been established in George's memory with the Alzheimer's Association and the Wellington Humane Society. Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
