Gerald D. "Jerry" Norris, age 66, life long Wellington resident, passed away February 12, 2010 at his home.

Gerald D. Norris was born on December 18, 1943 in Wellington, KS to Loren Norris and Myrl (Miller) Norris.

Jerry and Joanie were married on August 19, 1976 in Oceanside, California.

Through the years Jerry worked in the Electrical Engineering Department at Boeing. He also worked as a lineman for the City of Wellington Electrical Department and was a Master Electrician.

He enjoyed woodcarving, camping, fishing, and working for the Sumner County Sheriff Department as a Reserve Officer and as a part time officer for the Conway Springs Police Department. For several years Jerry lovingly cared for Sumner Memorial Garden's in Wellington where you could find him mowing and trimming.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, William "Bill" Norris; and one sister, Doris Jean Amberg Arnet.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Joanie Norris of Wellington, KS; two daughters, Amy McLain and her husband Jeff of Wellington, KS and Aleen Mathies and her husband Mark of Lenexa, KS; one brother, LaVern Norris of Clovis, New Mexico; eight grandchildren, Jason and Shelby McLain, Kiley Haskin, Hannah, Zack, Mack, MaKayla and Delaney Mathies

Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church. Reverend Tom Thompson will officiate.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.

A memorial has been established with the First Baptist Church in lieu of flowers.
