Obituary
Geraldine Ruth Adkins, age 86, of Wellington, passed away on January 14, 2016, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS. She was a homemaker and had been a dental assistant for many years.
Geraldine was born on June 23, 1929 in Herington, KS to Harold H. Rindt and Leona Katherine (Stover) Rindt. She was a graduate of Herington High School with the Class of 1947.
Gerry married Donald F. Adkins on October 2, 1949 in Herington, KS. Don preceded her in death on May 13, 2001.
Gerry was a charter member of the Dorcas Society of Calvary Lutheran Church. She was a great supporter of Wellington athletics when her grandchildren or great grandchildren were participating. She was known as "Mammaw", not only to her grandkids and great grandkids and all of their friends, but to 49 foster grandchildren as well.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don; one brother, Ronald F. Rindt; one sister, Judy Christianson; and son-in-law, Marnie Thaete.
Survivors include her two daughters, Geri Thaete of Wichita and Susan Nance and her husband Tim of Wellington; brother, Harold Rindt, Jr. of LasVegas, NV; sister, Cindy Junglen of St. Cloud, MN; six grandchildren, Kristan DeJarnett and her husband Shawn of Wellington, David Nance and his wife, Kelly of Wellington, Alison Soetaert of Wichita, Dana Cordts and her husband Casey of Lawrence, KS, Ben Nance of Wellington, Clay Nance of Parsons, KS, and Shannon Whipple and her husband Paul of Beloit, KS; great grandchildren, Ben, Addyson, Baylee, Annika, and Elly DeJarnett, Rhett and Maddie Nance, Easton and Isley Nance, Tadum, Evan, Camden and Avery Soetaert, Harper Cordts, Katie Cox and her husband Brandon, and Kevin Whipple; great great granddaughter, Kendall Cox.
Funeral Services will be held at Calvary Lutheran Church on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor William Wingfield will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Prairie Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, January 18, 2016 from 2:00 – 8:00 P.M. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.
Memorials have been established with WHS.cc Scholarships and Calvary Lutheran Church. Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
