Geraldine Stewart Porter, age 93, longtime Wellington, KS resident, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2009 at her grandson's home in Kalama, WA.
Geraldine Stewart Porter was born on July 21, 1915 in Mayfield, KS to William Ed and Addie (Mullins) Stewart. She attended schools in Wellington and was a Wellington High School graduate.
Geraldine married Claude Porter in 1933. He preceded her in death in 1958.
She owned and operated a Stretch and Sew fabric business in Wellington and Wichita for more than 20 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed quilting and sewing. She also devoted 20 years to Prison Fellowship. She was much loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents: her husband, Claude: an infant child; and daughter-in-law, Susan L. Porter.
Survivors include one son, Harold Porter of Colorado: two grandsons, Mark Porter of Kalama, WA and Lael Porter and his wife Amanda of Winfield, KS; three great grandchildren, David, Elizabeth, and Avery; and two great great-grandchildren, Maggie and Natalie.
Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at the Osborne Cemetery in Mayfield, KS. Reverend Brent Clayton will officiate.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, January 31, 2009 from 9:00 A.M. to Noon.
A memorial fund has been established in her memory with the Wellington Senior Center or www.angeltree.org. Contributions can be left or mailed to the funeral home.
