Obituary

Glenn Ray Wood, age 65, loving husband, father, step-father, step-grandfather, step-great grandfather, brother and uncle, passed away on June 16, 2009 surrounded by his family at his home in Newkirk, OK. Glenn was a former Wellington resident and graduate of Wellington High School. He was a retired machinist for Cessna Aircraft.

Glenn Ray Wood was born September 23, 1943 in Wellington, KS to Dwane W. Wood & Josephine (Box) Wood.

Glenn Ray Wood married Sheryl Lynn Oller on April 8, 1989 in Mayfield, KS. They had recently celebrated 20 years of marriage.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed setting trout lines, spending time in his boat, camping, and having fish fries.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Debby Wood and brother-in-law, Kenneth Gifford.

Glenn is survived by his loving wife, Sheryl Wood of Newkirk, OK; daughter, Becky Brecheisen and her husband Mike of Viola, KS; two step-daughters, Cammie Cummings and her fiancé Jody Hartman of Conway Springs, KS and Patricia Hutley and her husband David of Topeka, KS; two brothers, Carroll Wood and his wife Inge of Derby, KS and Leroy Wood and his wife Ophelia of Belle Plaine, KS; three sisters, Barbara Gifford of Wellington, KS, Karen Head and her companion Dave Simon of Wellington, KS and Pam Griffin and her husband Doug of Haysville, KS; three step-grandchildren, Andy and Laci Villa of Winfield, KS, Kaylee and Katelyn Cummings and Garrett Hartman all of Conway Springs, KS; and one step-great grandson, Rylan; and numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at the Austin Cemetery near Anson, KS. Chaplain Mike Sweetman will officiate.

A Memorial has been established in his name with Hospice of North Central Oklahoma at Ponca City, OK in lieu of flowers. Memorials can be left at or mailed to the funeral home.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
