Helen Virginia Slothower, age 96, lifelong Wellington resident, passed away Tuesday morning, November 8, 2016 at Joy Home in Oxford, KS. Helen worked for many years for the USD #353 Food Service Department.
Helen (Long) Slothower was born on November 14, 1919 in Wellington, KS to Elmer Long and Bonnie Belle (Trant) Long.
Helen married Kinard N. Slothower on September 11, 1955 in Wellington, KS. He preceded her in death in 1981.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kinard; son, Marc Slothower; daughter, Becky Kilgore; son-in-laws, Justin Gober and Mel Kilgore; two brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include her daughter, Susan Slothower-Gober; four granddaughters, Kim Bradshaw, Kristen Bateman, Kelli Cundell, and Kyli Caudillo; seven great grandchildren, Nick, Becky, Cody, Hailey, Gracie, D'Antae, and Brooklyn.
Graveside Services will be held at Sumner Memorial Gardens on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. Chaplain Dan Floyd will officiate.
Visitation will be held before the service at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 9:00 A.M. until 10:30 A.M.
A memorial has been established with the Joy Home in Oxford, KS. Contributions can be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
Frank Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
