Herman Nolan Estes, age 77, went home to be with his heavenly father on Thursday afternoon, May 19, 2011 at his home in Hunnewell, KS surrounded by his three loving daughters. He was a welder for Boeing Aircraft retiring in 1993.
Herman Estes was born on February 10, 1934 in Stroud, OK to Plesant Henderson Estes and Martha Moet (Waltman) Estes.
He married Betty Marie Nally on January 29, 1955 in Wichita, KS. She preceded him in death in 2000.
He enjoyed researching World War II history due to the fact that he lost his loving brother, Samuel, in the war. He also enjoyed researching his genealogy. He loved all his family very much and called his daughter, Maryann, his "angel."
He is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife and soul mate, Betty Marie; one sister, Mary Eloise Estes; and one brother, Samuel Edwin Estes.
Survivors include his three daughters, Angela Gayle Muller and her husband Rickey of Mulvane, Maryann Estes and Julie Lynn Estes both of Hunnewell; sisters, Lorene Holland, Francis Oliver, Marge Plamann, Ann Arnold, and Betty Sue Kelly; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Jacob; one great grandchild, Carson Cole, and a new great grandchild due in September.
Private family graveside services will be held at a later date.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
A memorial has been established with the American Lung Association in lieu of flowers. Contributions can be left at the funeral home
Frank Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
