Herminia Zavala, age 83, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and long time Wellington resident passed away at her daughter's home in Sturgis, Michigan on Thursday, November 23, 2017.
Herminia Zavala was born on October 18, 1934 in Wellington, KS to Frank Romero Venegas and Felipa (De La Rosa) Venegas.

Herminia married Pete Zavala, Sr. on April 14, 1952 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Wellington. He preceded her in death in 2005.

She was a member of St. Anthony's - St. Rose Catholic Church, the Cultural Committee, Alter Society, Wee Care, and was a Eucharist Minister for many years. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Pete; two brothers; one grandson; one great grandson; and two great granddaughters.

Survivors include three sons, Pete Zavala, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Wellington, KS, David Zavala and his wife Danielle of Arkansas City, KS, and James Zavala of Sturgis, MI; five daughters, Beatrice Castillo and her husband Albert of Wichita, KS, Patricia Ehtisham and her husband Anwer of Shawnee, OK, Hope Kinsey and her husband Gregory of Sturgis, MI, Annette Driscoll and her husband Wayne of Fort Smith, AR, Renee Zavala-White of Wellington, KS; one brother, Bonifacio Venegas of Chicago, IL; six sisters, Ofelia Ripley of Chicago, IL, Dora Bedolla, Jessie Zavala, Martha Hibbs, and Connie Branan all of Arkansas City, KS, and Bertha Amezcua of Winfield, KS; 15 grandsons, Albert Castillo and his wife Trasa, and Roman Castillo of Wichita, KS, Mark Ehtisham and his wife Tiffinee, Anwer Ehtisham, Jr. and his wife Holly, Jeremy Ehtisham and his wife Dana, and Jamil Ehtisham and his wife Alison all of Shawnee, OK, Ryan Ramirez and his wife Annie, and Julian Zavala of Wellington, KS, Erik White and Daniel White of Kansas City, KS, Jacob Gondos-Zavala and his wife Amanda of Phoenix, AZ, Jimmy Zavala and Tyler Zavala of Kalamazoo, MI, David Zavala Jr. of Arkansas City, KS, Devin Zavala and his wife Faith of Wichita, KS; 13 grand-daughters, Stacey Schwanke and her husband Clint of Wichita, KS, Shanda McGairty and her husband Trae, of Michigan, Chelsie Zavala of Wichita, KS, Alexis Zavala of Manhattan, KS, Erica White of Sturgis, MI, and Danica White of Emporia, KS, Michelle Mayfield and her husband Jonathon and Suhaila Nease and her husband Jeremy of Shawnee, OK, Shannon Rosiere and her husband Jason of Ft. Worth, TX, Ashley Presley and her husband Greg of Branson, MO, Bernadette Zavala of Phoenix, AZ, Talia Brandt and her husband Adam of Battle Creek, MI, and Tiffany Ripley and her husband Kasey of Arkansas City, KS; 45 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rosary will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 7:00 P.M. at St. Anthony - St. Rose Catholic Church.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony - St. Rose Catholic Church on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. Father Patrick Reilley will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Prairie Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, November 30, 2017 from 1:00 until 5:00 P.M.

A memorial has been established with St. Anthony's ¬- St. Rose Catholic Church in lieu of flowers. Contributions can be left or mailed to the funeral home.
