Holland Monrow Creed, age 96, a Wellington, KS resident for the past 65 years, passed away April 13, 2019, at his home. He was a farmer and a welder.
Holland was born on February 14, 1923 on a farm in rural Anson, Kansas to Wiley Austin Creed and Lola (Hare) Creed but was raised by Wiley and his step-mother, Dollie Creed. Holland served in the United States Army with the 24 th Medical Battalion during WWII.
He married Velma Evelyn Finley on October 20, 1943 at the Antlers Hotel in Wellington, KS. She preceded him in death on June 20, 2010.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Marvin Creed and Clarion Creed; four sisters, Flora Standridge, Mary Warren, Emma Riggs, and Necia Bilson; three brothers, Kerry, Eliga, and Dan Creed; one grandson, Jason Creed.
Survivors include his children, Carolyn Lydick and her husband Darrell of El Dorado, KS, Cecelia Baker and her husband Larry of Enid, OK; Clinton Creed and his wife, Janice of Haysville, KS, Carson Creed and his wife Sandra of Blackwell, OK, and Cedric Creed of Meade, KS; brothers, William "Billy" Creed and his wife Royce of Cleora, OK, Fred Creed of Conway Springs, KS and Wiley "Buck" Creed, Jr. of Post Falls, ID; 17 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 30 great great grandchildren; and one great great great grandchild.
Funeral Services will be held at Frank Funeral Home on Friday, April 19, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. Pastor Joplin Emerson will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the Austin Cemetery in Anson, KS.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, April 18, 2019 from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M.
A Memorial has been established with the Wounded Warriors in lieu of flowers. Contributions can be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
Frank Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
