James M. Ricketts, Jr., age 67, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS on Tuesday, September 29, 2009. He was the owner/operator of Ricketts Testing Company.
James M. Ricketts, Jr. was born on September 25, 1942 in Blackwell, OK to James M. Ricketts and Alta Ladyne Cheney Ricketts. He attended schools in Blackwell and graduated with the Blackwell High School Class of 1960.
Jim married Linda Herrin on October 25, 1980 in Wellington, KS.
He enjoyed visiting with family and friends, hunting, fishing, and attending K-State Football games.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Ricketts of Wellington, KS; son, Jimmy Ricketts of Wellington, KS; daughter, Rene' Bender of Rosalia, KS; brothers, Terry Ricketts and his wife Ruby of Blackwell, OK and step-brother, J. W. Francis of Glen Carbon, IL; three sisters, Kay Scott and her husband Gene of Blackwell, OK, Linda Kittrell and her husband Chuck of Cordova, TN and step-sister, Frankie Zuhr of Collinsville, IL; two grandchildren, Ashley and Shona Bender of Rosalia, KS; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Gilbert and Wanda Herrin of Wellington, KS; sister-in-law, Pat Gleason of Wellington, KS; brother-in-law, Chuck Herrin of Effingham, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Christian Church. Pastor Don Bryant will officiate. There will be no interment as cremation will take place after the service.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, October 2, 2009 from 1:00 – 9:00 P.M. The family will be present to greet friends from 7:00 – 9:00 P.M.
Memorials have been established with the Midian Shrine Temple in Wichita, KS and the Wellington Humane Society. Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
